Del of the Earl Grey 7 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 0
Last year we wrote an article about Del the landlady of the Earl Grey pub, little did we know that within a year Del would be dead. It has been a great loss to the town and Old High Street.

We have received a number of messages from around the world and will be moving them from the old server to this over the next few days. If you would like to leave a message please do so.

I can only say that Del was a good friend, she was also a good business colleague who believed in Folkestone and during her time as chair of the Folkestone Old Town Traders Association she worked hard at trying to improve the lot of the Old High Street. I and I know many others will miss her.

I was very saddened to hear of Del's recent passing due to cancer - and all those plans and dreams of retirement mentioned in your article never realised. I was a fellow Aussie up until recently living in the Old High Street in Folkestone, almost opposite the Earl Grey in actual fact and got to know Del fairly well through my odd pint at the bar there and also around Folkestone in general. Del brought so much to Folkestone and so much personality to the pub that she managed...she will be sadly missed.

Del was elected the Chair person of the Folkestone Old Town Traders Association and put up with little back chat. She was for the old town and thought the Creative Quarter should make some effort to work with the traders. Regrettably, they never tried.
