Folkestone Magazine has around 200,000 readers from all corners of the world and over 2,000 of them have visited Folkestone. One American lady, now a very good friend, has visited Folkestone on about three occasions since 2004 and will be visiting again nest year bring along five friends.

During her stays she has spent time in three hotels and in the main they have been good though one was horrendous. It was the only occasion she never asked for a recommendation. Would you believe that she had to buy toilet rolls, borrow clean towels, toilet cleaner, air freshener and a feather duster to remove the cobwebs.

The breakfast was good but they were put off the food by two dogs wondering in and out of the kitchen. The hotel has now closed, no surprise.

This hotel/guesthouse was not unusual in Folkestone I have know some to take the sheets of a used bed, not wash them and iron them before making the bed. The sheets may have been ironed two or three times before they were washed.

If the Creative Foundation intends to attract thousands of visitors to the town, including rich visitors to buy the art, where are they going to stay? I feel some of these visitors are going to be very disappointed at the standard of Folkestone hotel. Shouldn't the Foundation be doing something to encourage the improvement of local hotel facilities?
